“Best cost, best quality … a new offer in the field of orthopaedic medical devices.”
What was your “vision” when you ventured onto the orthopaedic market?Patrick Frenay : There was a gap between the European “high value / high cost” businesses and the Asian “low cost / low quality” businesses. The challenge lay in designing and manufacturing high added-value orthopaedic solutions conforming to international standards, at the most competitive cost and in accordance with environmental criteria. How do you define the mission of SIMP?P.F. : To offer stakeholders in the world of orthopaedics a direct and simplified route to the co-conception, development and fabrication of simple and innovative concepts. Everything, bespoke, turnkey but … in Asia and in the European way! Why have you elected to establish a base in Thailand?P.F. : Thailand has a real culture in technical textile, unique in Asia. The challenge was thus to combine European and Thai know-how so as to offer a “best cost / best quality” logic. What are SIMP’s main strengths?P.F. : Our principal strength is firstly our control in terms of processes and regulatory matters. Our entire organisation has been designed around this with, on the French side, an R&D cell, daily client contact, and fully controlled processes and logistics. And, on the Thai side, production with extensive controls for total quality. What are your development plans?P.F. : We hope to broaden our medical textile know-how into the world of sport and well-being, with the focus on Ortho Solutions. But always with a will to develop innovative products of a higher-than-average quality standard. |
